Android Smart Phone Comparison - Motorola Droid X Vs HTC Evo 4g

Recently, 2 very well known companies, Motorola and HTC, created new phones that have received a lot of high remarks: Motorola Droid X and the HTC Evo 4G. Both of these are packed with tons of features and run on the same operating system Android 2.1 which allows you to run multiple apps at once. But which smart phone is better? Let's find out.

Android Programming

The Motorola Droid X is a really sleek looking cell phone and comes with a OMAP 3630 1 GHz processor which is considered by many to be the fastest on the market and is the reason why this phone is the best multitasking smart phone out there, letting you run multiple applications at the same time. Some of the most notable features of the phone are its large 4.3" 720p HD touch screen and up to 40GB of storage: 8GB inside plus up to 32GB on MicroSD card. Other features include an 8 MP camera, DLNA compatibility with HDMI Micro out, 3G capabilities, and 3 microphones for noise cancellation and better call quality. This smart phone can also be used as a hot spot, meaning that you can use this phone to connect other phones to the internet.

Now let's examine the Evo 4G. As you can probably tell from its name, it has 4G capabilities, which is pretty sweet. Just like the Motorola, the HTC has a 4.3'' HD screen and can be used as a hot spot. It has an HDMI port which lets you connect the touch phone to a large TV, which is really useful for watching videos. It has an 8 MP camera in the back and another, 1.3MP camera in the front, making video calling especially easy. While the 4G makes the internet faster, where available, it's not available everywhere and does make you pay a more expansive cell phone bill. It also has a 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU, which is one of the fastest processors out there and supports multitasking, but it is not quite as fast as the Droid's.

As you can see, both, the Droid X and the Evo 4G, have tons of similar features so it was tough to decide which touch phone was better. But after examining all of the specifications, the choice was clear to me.

Smart Phone SmackDown - Apple iPhone 3G Vs Motorola Droid X

Motorola has recently released a new phone called the Droid X (Extreme). It has recently received a lot of hype, especially for the fact that it allows you run multiple apps at once. But is this cell phone superior to the iPhone 3G, which has been one of the best selling smart phones since its release in '09? Let's find out.

Android Programming

Let's begin by examining the Droid X. It runs on Android 2.1 OS with latest MotoBlur extensions and will soon be updated to Android 2.2. Motorola Droid X has 1 GHz TI-OMAP 3630 processor which allows it to run multiple applications at the same time while performing all tasks twice as fast as its competitors. It also comes standard with 512Mb RAM and 8GB of memory and you can add up to 32GB of additional memory through the SD card slot (which is also the most out of any other phone). It also comes with one of the largest touch screens: 4.3" inches 854 X 480 resolution. This phone also has a very comfortable keyboard, which lets you type without lifting your fingers. It is also equipped with an 8MP camera which is better than anything that other phones have.

Now let's take a look at the iPhone 3G. It runs on the Apple's iOS, which has more apps for it at this point than the Android. It has the ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz processor which is very fast, although not quite as fast as the Droid's. It has a 3.15MP camera and, even though it's smaller than the Droid's, it has a better flash and the quality is really good. It also has a 3.5 inch TFT touch screen with 16 million colors and a 320 x 480 resolution, which is pretty nice.

Now let's look at some similarities. They both have Bluetooth connectivity. They are equipped with Wi-Fi which allows you to connect to the internet. Their browsers let you easily go on Facebook, Twitter and other websites. Both phones have no physical keyboard, but the on-screen keyboard that they have is pretty comfortable.

So which phone is better? Well, at this point, if I had the iPhone already, I would not trade the iPhone 3G for the Droid X because it is still pretty new and it has more apps than the Droid. However, if I was buying a new phone, I would definitely get the Droid X instead of the iPhone 3G because it has superior hardware and because it'll have as many, if not more, apps for it as the iPhone 3G in a short time. So in a battle of the Motorola Droid X vs. Apple iPhone 3G, I would say the Droid X takes home the trophy.

Htc Droid expected Vs Motorola Droid - A Comparison in the middle of 2 Android Phones

The cellphone I currently use is the new Htc Incredible. This cellphone has been the best I have used in my lifetime. 6 Months ago I started with a Motorola Droid, and was using it until receiving this phone. There are a few differences between the Motorola and the Htc, which make it a better choice of a phone. Just recently the 2.1 update to the Android Os was released. The 2.1 update added overwhelming features like multi-touch, and speech to text. One great feature in the Htc model is the built in radio tuner. You must use a pair or headphones as a antenna for the radio feature but you need them to listen to the radio anyway.

Sound ability is far excellent to my Motorola droid. The weight of this handset is lower then the weight of the Motorola also. If you want a sleek simpler to use phone I would propose the Htc, but if a slide out keyboard is needed buy the traditional Motorola Droid. The Motorola has a slide out keyboard, which is a 1Up to this model, but extended features far outweigh the missing features. Some have said that the phone has a cheap feeling, yes it has a little plastic feeling, but the material used is different then any cellphone I have owned.

A few bad points: The Htc improbable battery is lower rated then the Motorola, and thinner. I could get a day or more with the battery in the traditional droid, but after trying the incredible, and running manifold simultaneous apps I can say that the battery sucks. I on an median charge my phone mid-day so it doesn't run out by the time I get home from work at night. Some applications in the Android marketplace do not work correctly for the Htc incredible. With a smaller built in memory 8Gb this is half the approved droid's 16Gb card. The good point of this is the Sd slot will take further memory, but you will need to purchase someone else card for it. I myself use a memory card reader and adapter that came with my Micro Sd card to exchange files between my phone and computer.

The good: The overwhelming Oled screen makes this phone shine. No really, it roughly lights my way through my house on the home screen, because of the brightness of this upgraded screen. Also, the new applications that are specific to safe bet droid phones really shine on the Htc model. The built in media player is light years ahead of the approved Motorola one, and the photo album is faster and very easy to navigate. The 8Mp camera is insanely clear and bright; the dual Led flash will light up any place to take a great picture. In my testing pictures from lower light areas furnish lower ability pictures.

Overall in conclusion, the Htc Droid improbable is a overwhelming piece of technology. For the median price of -0 dollars this phone is worth every penny. Verizon has the largest network ready through the country, with 3G ready for most of it. Don't fall for the iPhone At&T trap with spotty, unreliable 3G coverage. You can find a unique Android based phone to match your daily needs. A high point to owning an android phone is the way Google Apps are highly integrated. In a matter of seconds you can get yourself signed into Gmail, and sync your facebook contacts into your phone, abruptly having most your friends, family, and acquaintances at the touch of your fingers.
